What better way to get into the holiday spirit than to take a weekend getaway trip to Asheville, NC! I have only been here once to see the Biltmore with my mom over 10 years ago and I’m so glad to be back with my wife! Asheville was recently effected by Hurricane Helene so there is a lot of damage that they are working to clean up and some of their restaurants we wanted to try went out of business [Corner Kitchen+ Mayfel’s].
Biltmore Estate
A trip to Asheville wouldn’t be complete without visiting The Biltmore! I have only been here one other time and it was beautiful but nothing compares to Christmas here! It truly feels like you are in a Hallmark movie! I have been begging to see the Christmas decorations and lights since last Christmas but with our busy schedules it just wasn’t possible until now.
I love walking around this Majestic Château with breathtaking Mountain View’s , Gardens to beguile us and the taste of the vineyards. Along side of tasting their incredible wine you can also choose to stay at their Cottages, Village Hotel or The Inn . All while learning the history of the Biltmore. George Vanderbilt’s legacy turned into a National Historic Landmark also known as America’s Largest Home.
We ate at The Bistro for dinner and YALL I could have died on the table! 5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! It was the BEST steak I’ve ate in a long time! Everything was top tier from the southern hospitality , cleanliness of the restaurant and incredible food and wine! I will say YES it is expensive but worth every dollar and then some! I had the filet mignon with mashed potato’s and carrots. My wife got the ribeye with fried marble potatoes and creamed state grown greens, herbs de provence. For dessert we split a Maple Bourbon Crème Brûlée. This is the PERFECT bite!
Omni Grove PArk Inn
We hopped on over to Omni Grove Park Inn to drink their famous hot chocolate and see their National Gingerbread House Competition however since Hurricane Helene they decided to cancel for 2024 and plan to have it going again in 2025. The Omni Grove has incredible heated pools and an amazing spa!
Tupelo Honey 🍯
Our third day we decided to explore downtown small shops and eat at Tupelo Honey. Very busy downtown but so beautiful if you are looking to drink and have some incredible food!
